Hannah Diamond, real name Hannah Amond, was born on the 20 June, 1991. Hannah's a singer/pop-star, songwriter, photographer, visual artist, and all around icon! She has released music and has been an integral member of the pop label PC Music since its' founding really in 2013, notably putting out her glittering debut, Reflections in 2019 and her magnum opus (so far!) Perfect Picture in 2023. Along with this, she is featured on many many PC Music tracks and has collobarted with other simlar artists, really just making her beautiful world a reality! As a part of this, she was the major creative force behind the really pristine, digital look of the label and her kind of music. Here's a couple sparkling examples, but check out all her work on her site!
I first heard Hannah's music about 5 years ago around 2019/2020. Sadly I was pretty late! I remember just watching the music video for her single Hi over and over (watch here!) there just is nothing like it. The cold, futristic, pristine world she creates in all her music and imagery, especially in that era, is just really calming to me. In an interview I read when her newest album, Perfect Picture, came out she reflects (hehee) on that time in her life and how she was unhappy and not as confident then. She also mentioned how she felt a need to prove herself, that she was real and could do many different things, explaining why there is such a variety of genres on the album. You have more rave music like Concrete Angel and very sad ballads like Never Again and title track, Reflections. With her Perfect Picture era, she also spoke about how it was an expression of being confident in herself, no longer sad, and really just self-love in a way. This really comes through from the completely incredible pink, sparkly visuals which she fully embraces, all the outfits she wore on her tour as well, the optimism of the album of course, and her iconic pastel pink hair!
I could really talk about HD forever, so I'll wrap it up! Below I've embedded a playlist I made of all her music that's on Soundcloud, including remixes, features, and some unreleased songs including a couple I uploaded! Give it a listen! The only songs not included are her and Caro's remix of Erika de Casier's song, Better Than That and the Palmistry remix of Love Goes On featuring Bladee (sry the original is just superior!) Listening to Hannah's music, I feel like it's ok to like girly things. That one day I'll be like the poster girl on my wall, I'll love my reflection, and I'll be unbreakable. And I hope you feel that way too!
